Old Spice, the story
Wiliam Schultz, the founder of Old Spice, built Old Spice around a colonial frame, and chose the maritime theme, therefore sailing ships, especially colonial three-master sailing ships, became
used as a trademark.
Several three-masters adorned the early Old Spice packages,
such as Grand Turk (afterwards renamed to Etoile du Roy), and the Friendship.
Later, more three-masters were used for the logo.
Today the logo is still the three-master.
Old Spice originally started producing women's perfumes in 1937,
this one called "Early American Old Spice for women"
The following year, in 1938, they released the first men's line, naming it "Old Spice for men".
This line mainly consisted of shaving soap and aftershave.
In the 1970s, the focus shifted partly from a shaving brand to a fragrance brand by introducing signature scents.
In 1990 Procter & Gamble bought the Old Spice fragrance line.
The range was therefore greatly expanded with, for example, deodorant and body wash.
Today Old Spice has an extensive range of body care for men,
and they are also known from the TV commercials.
